Not your average Motorcycle!

From January 24, Brookfield Place will be playing home to a special bit of machinery! The Suter 2012 Moto2 Prototype Powered by Honda will be revving into the precinct and it has quite the special story behind it. Ridden by Marc Márquez in 2012, the very same year he and his team won the world championship; this motorbike also provided design inspiration on Perth’s newest sporting and architectural icon.

Architects saw that the geometry of the bike’s gears and cogs could be applied to the world-class stadium. In fact, it was geometric models taken from the gear system and the motorcycle swing arm that provided the inspiration for the design of the stadium’s roof trusses.

On display in the lobby of Tower 1 at Brookfield Place from January 24 – March 9, make sure you take the opportunity to admire this special piece of machinery in person. Then, upon visiting Optus Stadium, you will be able to reflect on this unique design connection between these two sporting icons.
